Should I buy it?
Is it just going to be a limited release?
Should I buy it TODAY?
Do you need anything else to play with it?

I am so inspired. Look her up folks.
I feel like I really have a manifesto in my hands. Can’t wait to read it.

In a positively BRILLIANT article, Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo has managed to sum up exactly why video games are my favorite artistic medium in a single paragraph.
In a game, every image you see and every sound you hear is an effort of human intention that has been carefully crafted for you to observe, absorb, consider, and enjoy. No other art form on the planet can pair experience and interactivity with that same level of meaningful construction.

Like comics, video games are a bastard medium, perpetually trapped in the purgatory of “low art.” No matter how well-crafted or sweeping or gorgeous they are, they almost never get auctioned off to millionaires with paddles. But even comics have had some success: The graphic novel movement is giving them some art house cred, R. Crumb drew some parents boning their kids and got a freaking Academy of Arts and Letters Award, and I heard Jeff Koons grudgingly recognized them as a conceivable medium for the conveyance of art-like imagery.
